Returns an address of the socket suitable for connect in the local machine.

This method returns self.local_address, except following condition.

If the local address is not suitable for connect, SocketError is raised. IPv4 and IPv6 address which port is 0 is not suitable for connect. Unix domain socket which has no path is not suitable for connect.

The timeout specify the seconds for timeout. Errno::ETIMEDOUT is raised when timeout occur.

This method is defined for backward compatibility.

Scans the string until the pattern is matched. Returns the substring up to and including the end of the match, advancing the scan pointer to that location. If there is no match, nil is returned.

Advances the scan pointer until pattern is matched and consumed. Returns the number of bytes advanced, or nil if no match was found.

Look ahead to match pattern, and advance the scan pointer to the end of the match. Return the number of characters advanced, or nil if the match was unsuccessful.

It’s similar to scan_until, but without returning the intervening string.

This returns the value that scan_until would return, without advancing the scan pointer. The match register is affected, though.

Mnemonic: it “checks” to see whether a scan_until will return a value.

Returns the factorization of value.

Parameters

value

An arbitrary integer.

generator

Optional. A pseudo-prime generator. generator.succ must return the next pseudo-prime number in the ascending order. It must generate all prime numbers, but may also generate non prime numbers too.

Exceptions

ZeroDivisionError

when value is zero.

Example

For an arbitrary integer:

n = p_1**e_1 * p_2**e_2 * .... * p_n**e_n,

prime_division(n) returns:

[[p_1, e_1], [p_2, e_2], ...., [p_n, e_n]].

Prime.prime_division(12) #=> [[2,2], [3,1]]
